It’s all over!!!

Maasha Allah finally degree is officially over … I feel very free and relaxed after continuous four years work …now I have nothing in my mind to worry about (apart from the results). I can’t even believe it was like yesterday for me, last four years passed very quickly. I still remember the day everyone leave me in a dilemma to select my life pathway after my father’s death…I’m happy that the decision I took at that time is correct… with all difficulties…thank god the challenge taken is completed.

My life style and attitude changed in many ways during this period. I learned how to look at people/world in different angles, how to handle problems and specially learned how to learn new things. Most important thing adapted to my life is effective time management. Time was extremely limited and lot of task has to be carried out in parallel. In certain critical conditions, I have changed my way of working … for instance, took my meal within 2-3 min time… people who observe me walking doubt whether I’m walking or running … conversations are made short & sweet…always I’m more focused on how to do productive work while having enough fun.

I’m happy that have made many good friends and not a single enemy during this period. However, only thing lacked is enough time to spend with all of them. Well, now I’m free and it’s the right time to slow down things and move out of my busy life style to normal. Now, what comes to my mind is what is next? Many things …oh what to do…. lost between choices…@ last made a prioritized to do list.

1. Pack all computing books to my cupboard
2. Change my bed time to 9.00 P.M and @ least sleep 8 Hrs a day
3. Start playing Basketball on Sundays
4. Repair my bike and go for weekly beach ride
5. Watch all missed movies
6. Visit my cousins at Kandy
7. Find out what happened to my good old school friends
9. Trips around Sri Lanka
10. Start studying something apart from computers
11. Look for better job opportunities
12. Look for a good Girl …(should I???)

APIIT Graduation 2004

Last Friday APIIT had its second graduation ceremony @ BMICH... since all final year students are invited, I want to meet and wish personally all my friends graduating …checked out from office with greatest difficulties and reach the ceremony onetime. This time it was bit different than last graduation …the set up and dressing code of all students was different, all guys were wearing full suite and girls in saris (I wonder these are the buddies, I see @ Apiit …actually they looked pretty and matured in this dress code). I had a odd feeling when looked at my dress code… didn’t expect such majestic ceremony, anyway I have no time to dress up and who cares about dress code?? … (Kauda apiwa balanna inne J).

Few things bothered me after the graduation

First, one person was not present to receive the certificate …that is student Miss. Paree... passed away this year. I was bit disappointed, why we put such effort to get a degree for the last 4 years if such incidents can happen to a person …it is just a mosquito (dengu) who did all …what about the effort …time …knowledge…dreams…etc of a student and parents. Do we have to put such effort …or live for the moment and enjoy life with what we have? (Confused)

Second thing is the expressions I saw at all parents’ faces …when their son / daughter on the stage…they must be happy and proud …what a memorable moment. Next, while looking at graduans who taking photos with their parents … I was dreaming for a while insha allah next year I’ll be graduating and taking photos with my parents…ohhh…I see only my self and mother in the pic… L ...my father who always want to see me in a good position is not alive to share that great moment with me. Came out of the dream …

Just a simple wish...inshalla to graduate next year, make my mother proud and happy.

Kids Test My Patience

This weekend I went to Kandy to attend a family wedding, with my sis and mother. My job was to take care of my sis’s 4 years old son (this is a job that I always want to escape). This kid really tested my patience during the 3 hrs traveling sitting on my lap and asking questions.

Promises taken before the journey: uncle show me rabbits, elephants, aero plane today …

Journey begins …

Uncle show me rabbits…Repeated 100 times…
Okay, where can I find rabbits in Kandy road???
Showed him whatever the animals I can see in the road...still the kid is not satisfied…finally found some birds in a restaurant and …he is satisfied.

Kid is quiet for 15 min time…
Uncle show me an elephant…Repeated 100 times
This time it is an elephant … I can see only the Buffaloes in paddy fields…
Ohhh thank god …I found an elephant!!! …it is a fake elephant exhibited in a handicraft shop …it looked like a real one … who cares… Kid satisfied …

Kid is quiet for 15 min time…
I saw a Chassi of an old car on a roof top …see there is a flying car …Ohhhh… since the vehicle is traveling too fast he missed the scene …
Uncle show me flying car…Repeated 100 times…this time it is my fault, showing unnecessary things to the kid …Now search for flying cars ..
Solution …car sale expanded over multiple floors… see flying cars, Lorries, vans and bikes …kid satisfied.

Kid is quiet for 15 min time…
He stars again, saying uncle show me …this time I started shouting at him…now the kid start crying ….oh my god it is non-stop ...finally he start beating me (mothers advice to me, don’t shout just be patient and say yes.. yes.. yes.. technique worked fine).

Kid is quiet for 15 min time…
He vomits …ohhh ….can this kid do anything precious than this …now clean up session and finally he goes to sleep. We reached the wedding house lately and when I got out of the vehicle… I was wondering whether the dress is ironed properly and neat (thanx to the kid)

Lesson learned.
1. Never give promises to kids…keep in mined by hook-or-crock u have to make it true.
2. Avoid taking kids for long trips...if not @ least give them sleeping tablets in advance.

Whatever said ... Kids are Kids...we must be doing the same things those days to our uncles… actually mothers doing a great job … don’t know how they spend the whole day with a kid.
